The University of Chicago Medical Center did some research on it and found that phtalide (3nb), a compound found in celery, helps improve blood flow. It&#8217;s interesting how the research came about. For one week, the father of one of the researchers consumed about 4 stalks of celery everyday. As a result, his blood pressure dropped from 158/96 to 118/82.<br />
There are several ways to add celery to your diet. You can use it as an ingredient in your soups. You can also eat celery sticks as a snack or juice it along with tomatoes or carrots.</p>
<p>3. Tomatoes<br />
Lycopene found in tomatoes effectively lowers blood pressure. This is confirmed by a study conducted by Dr. Esther Paran of Soroka Medical Center in Israel. He selected patients that were not responding well to hypertension medications and gave them a daily supplement of tomato extract. Within 4 weeks, they experienced a significant reduction in their blood pressure. It is recommended that you eat at least 4 tomatoes daily to see positive results. You can make tomato juice, add tomatoes to your salad and sauces or make tomato salsa. You can also run to the pharmacy to buy tomato-concentrate pills.</p>
<p>4. High Fiber Foods<br />
Don&#8217;t forget to include high fiber foods to your diet. That simply means eat a lot of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grain.</p>
<p>5. Potassium Rich Foods<br />
A contributing factor to high blood pressure is not having enough potassium and too much sodium. It&#8217;s best to get your daily potassium from natural foods instead of supplements. Potassium rich foods include potatoes, meat, oranges, and bananas. Too much potassium is also not good and can be dangerous to your health. You want a good balance of potassium-to-sodium.</p>

<p>Whether they come in the form of unsolicited commercial email messages or online classified ads, offers for seemingly magical diet programs are hard to miss on the world wide web. Some of the most popular are 3-day diets that focus on specific foods such as grapefruit, tuna fish, cabbage soup or chicken soup. They claim that if you combine certain foods there will be a powerful effect that melts fat away.</p>
<p>One such diet even uses the name of a famous medical institution in Minnesota, despite the fact that this clinic has never endorsed such a weight loss program.</p>
<p>For most overweight men and women who are otherwise essentially healthy, it would probably not do them significant harm to eat only a half of a grapefruit, a slice of toast and a cup of black coffee every day for three days, but most experts on diet and nutrition would agree that any weight lost during such a fad diet would quickly be put back on after the 3-day starvation was over.</p>
<p>Even more mainstream diets such as Dr. Atkins, the Zone and South Beach programs are difficult for some people to stick to on the regular basis that is required for weight loss to be permanent.</p>
<p>One diet that seems to be different from the others is based not on counting calories and reducing carbohydrates but instead it advocates eating foods with a lower glycemic index rating. The glycemic index, or GI, is a scale that rates different foods on their effect on the body&#8217;s blood sugar level. Common foods that have very high GI ratings are sugar, white flour, potatoes and white rice. Advocates of low-GI diets say that simply by making a few substitutions that reduce the amount of high-GI ingredients, people can not only lose weight but also gain other health benefits such as lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels.</p>
<p>Some of the easiest of such substitutions are to eat brown rice instead of white, baked goods made with whole wheat instead of white flour, sweet potatoes instead of white ones and sugar substitutes such as stevia.</p>
<p>When it comes to fad diets that promise miraculous weight loss, it is best to remember the old adage that those things which seem too good to be true are probably not true.</p>

Here are three easily controlled factors that can add up to a sleek, toned belly.</p>
<p>1)Diet&#8211;No, I don&#8217;t mean subsist on grapefruit and plain grilled chicken for the rest of your days. But I do want you to be conscious of what you put into your body. Do you quaff can-after-can of diet soda thinking it&#8217;s much healthier for you than regular soda is? Do you drink very little water? Do you buy diet foods think that will be the solution for weight loss? Love to eat over-processed foods containing white sugar, white flour or white rice? If so, it&#8217;s time to review what goes into your body on a regular basis. You need to think of food as fuel for your body. Would your car run at peak performance levels if you pumped dirty, watered-down gasoline into its tank? Of course not! If you want that sleek, toned body with ripped abs, you need to pay serious attention to your diet. You work out effectively and lose weight if you don&#8217;t fuel your body for performance. Lose the sodas, drink plenty of water and get over-processed foods that add nothing in the way of fiber, vitamins or minerals to your diet. For example, you might run as fast as you can for two minutes, slow it down for another two, then go hard again. You might only need twenty minutes of interval training to burn as many calories as you did in your old slower method of cardio.</p>

We wake up energized ready to hit that weight loss diet plan hard and heavy. We know exactly what we are going to eat that morning. We are prepared for a nice walk or perhaps a trip to the gym.<span id="more-89"></span></p>
<p>We know how lose weight we have done it a hundred times before!  We get off to a good start everything is going perfectly and by lunchtime we are ready to go off our diet. What went wrong?</p>
<p>Did you know that most diets tend to break down or fall apart in the middle to late afternoon? Is that what usually happens to you? <img title="More..." src="http://helptoloseweight.org/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wordpress/img/trans.gif" alt="" width="1" height="1" /></p>
<p>There have been scientific studies conducted on brain waves that show that often around 3 to 4 PM your body enters a time that researchers have called the &#8220;breaking point.&#8221; This is a time when your brain waves slow down and your body transitions into a place where it wants to be in a recuperating phase of rest or sleep. This causes your body to experience one of your lowest energy points of your waking hours.</p>
<p>During this phase you may feel less alert, very fatigued, and possibly like you need a nap. You know, that feeling of sluggishness near the end of your workday where it gets harder to think clearly and focus to get your work done.</p>
<p>This low energy time of day is the exact time that a huge percentage of dieters fall off the diet wagon and they reach for food to try to regain energy to get themselves through the rest of their day. Unfortunately these quite often empty calories (usually found in the vending machine) don&#8217;t even give you energy &#8212; eating simply occupies your brain with action and falsely helps you feel like you have more energy. Or you may get more energy for a brief moment and then drop down into even deeper sluggishness.</p>
<p>The good new is that you really can learn how to lose weight it is just a matter of choices. A better plan (and one that would help you stick with your new healthy diet) is to be very aware that these slower phases occur in your body and brain every day &#8212; then make a plan to give yourself what you REALLY need &#8212; rather than empty calories &#8212; when those sluggish times of low energy hit you.</p>
<p>So what do you really need? Your body really needs a break if at all possible. Grab a quick 20 minute nap or &#8220;rest break&#8221; if your schedule and environment allow it. You will feel a lot better if you can give your body to rest it wants. That short rest will rejuvenate you for the remainder of the day.</p>
<p>If you can&#8217;t take a quick nap, then at least take a small break. Even a five-minute break with a change of pace &#8212; away from your desk if possible &#8212; where you do some light stretching, take a short walk, grab some fresh air outside and reconnect to your body, your mind, and YOU.</p>
<p>Avoid using food to push yourself through your day. Listen to your body and give it food only when it is hungry and give your body rest when it needs rest. Get in touch with what you REALLY need and you will reach your health and weight loss goals.</p>
